
Dr. Ilia Stambler
Dr. Ilia Stambler, Chief Science Officer and Chairman of Vetek (Seniority) – The Movement for Longevity and Quality of Life in Israel, is a Research Fellow at the Department of Science, Technology and Society at Bar-Ilan University. He completed his PhD in the Science, Technology and Society Program, with his thesis on the history of life extension in the 20th century becoming a comprehensive repository on aging and longevity research.
Dr. Stambler's research focuses on the historical and social implications of aging and longevity research, including ethical and regulatory aspects. He also works on mathematical modeling of aging and related diseases, using methods from information theory. His initiative, "The Quantitative Longevity Guide," was adopted by the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Aging.
Stambler has published two books and over 70 academic articles in journals and chapters in leading books in the field. He has lectured at more than 50 academic conferences, co-organizing or managing half of them.
As a key activist in promoting aging and longevity research, Dr. Stambler holds pivotal roles in international organizations in the field. He initiated the "Longevity Day and Month" campaign, which has been held in dozens of countries since 2013.
His contributions to the field also include authoring and promoting the chapter on research, development, and education for healthy longevity in the Knesset's National Aging Program (2019), and active involvement in including aging in the World Health Organization's work program in 2017. Dr. Stambler continues to lead campaigns to promote research, development, and implementation of healthy longevity.
