FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is STS?
Science, Technology and Society (STS) is a dynamic, interdisciplinary field of research examining the complex interrelationships between scientific and technological developments and social and cultural processes. Established and developed globally, the field offers a unique perspective on how science and technology influence our lives and vice versa. In our program, students and faculty explore a diverse range of topics using methodologies from various disciplines. Over the years, distinctive research clusters have formed around compelling issues in the field. These interests have given rise to informal study groups and forums within the program, facilitating in-depth discussion and continuous knowledge exchange. For a more comprehensive understanding, we recommend reviewing the brief introductions to STS and the History and Philosophy of Science (HPS), which form the foundation of our program. These overviews provide a broad perspective on the theoretical and methodological approaches guiding research in this field.
