Spotlight on "Social Networks, Politics and Emotions"
How Did Our Sexuality Become a Political Arena?
Why do emotions like rage and shame drive public discourse?
And why do some parents prefer their children to marry someone from a different religion - but not from the opposing political camp?
These topics will be at the center of the course "Social Networks, Politics and Emotions" to be taught by Noam Yuran next semester.
Social networks have become a central arena shaping our political, economic and social reality in recent decades. But do they really promote pluralism and freedom of expression, as we hoped at the beginning? Or perhaps they actually strengthen political polarization, increase populism, and change the way we experience emotions and sexuality in sometimes unexpected ways?
In the course, we will examine these processes through a combination of current research and analysis of contemporary events, and delve into the questions that shape the age of social networks. The course is suitable for those interested in politics, digital culture, gender and social psychology.
You are invited to join an intellectual journey to understand the profound influences of social networks on our lives.
